About Diving
Diving Safaris is located on the northwest Pacific Coast
In the Gulf of Papagayo, 30 minute boat rides usually
Locally see white tip reef sharks, grunts, yellowtails,
Spotted eagle rays, stingrays, frog fish and
Several species of eels.
Whale sharks seen up to 35’ long on numerous occasions,
Spinner dolphin, humpback whales, pilot whales, orcas, false killer Whales and schools containing hundreds of cow-nosed rays
Visibility ranges from 30’-50’ with 80’ possible
Volcanic rock formations and rock pinnacles,
Little hard coral
Black coral, soft coral and orange cup coral at night
Long range dive trips are offered to Catalina and Bat Islands
(Catalina is best in December - April for schools of Manta rays)
Bat Island (long range trip, challenging dive) is best
March - November for bull sharks,
cow-nosed rays, eagle and sometimes Manta rays, and
Larger schooling fish

Water Temp: mid-May to Mid-Dec mid to high 70’s
mid-December to mid-April temps
Vary day to day with thermoclines
Dipping temp to 70 degrees (F).
On the beaches it’s 85-90 degrees

.Rainy season is May to November, diving still good,
No river drain into water so visibility is not affected.
