Hotel on the Cay, located on a five-acre tropical cay (pronounced
key) surrounded by the clear, warm Caribbean Sea, is a holiday for the
senses with a pristine beach, lush tropical palms, mahoganies, sea
grapes and many other flowering trees and bushes. Three species of
lizards populate the island (including endangered St. Croix Ground Lizard), as well as hundreds of tropical birds!
Nestled in this lush setting, are historic buildings that house 53
rooms divided into standard queen and standard suite–approximately half
of the rooms are available for guests with the remaining half
owned/occupied by Hotel on the Cay Timeshare Owners, LLC. A recently
renovated West Indies cottage offers unparalleled privacy and comfort at
the eastern most point of the cay.
Scheduled for complete renovation in 2011, our rooms are retro comfy with a tropical vibe.
Each room has an ocean view and kitchenette with microwave,
frig, toaster and coffee pot. Their own ferry will shuttle you back and
forth to the mainland. This is also close to Dive Experience, downtown
Christianstad.
Packages Include: Standard accommodations (2 queen beds), balcony with water view, tax and hotel service charge, fuel surcharge, 2-tank morning dives with Dive Experience. A car can be added for the entire stay with pickup at the airport, or for 3 days with pick up at the nearby sea plane terminal.

With Sweet Bottom's dive package you can choose at least 2 days of 2 tank boat dives anywhere on the island.

DIVE EXPERIENCE
Dive Experience opened in 1983 and became St. Croix's first PADI 5 Star IDC facility. They offer dive training from Discover SCUBA and as a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center they teach all the way up to Open Water SCUBA Instructor.
Dive Experience is committed to conservation and ecotourism. They are involved with community services such as coastal cleanups. They teach the kids from the lower income housing projects to dive for free and are involved with St. Croix Environmental Association giving tours of the mangroves for school groups.
Dive Experience spearheaded the mooring system on St. Croix with the help of ICE Island Conservation Effort and a few other St. Croix dive operators.
In March of 2004 Michele Pugh, owner, was inducted into the Women Divers Hall Of Fame. How did she get this honor?
In 1978 she was the first woman photographer to film killer whales underwater in the wilds in Canada. Check out the book "A Whale Called Killer" by Eric Hoyt. In 1983 she started her own dive company, Dive Experience Inc. This is the oldest originally owned dive business on St. Croix. She was the first dive operator on St. Croix to achieve the PADI 5 Star IDC rating.
In 1989 she spearheaded “Project Anchors Away”, a 75 mooring buoy system surrounding St. Croix to protect the coral reefs from anchor damage. Board member, St. Croix Fisheries Advisory, since the late 80s, which advises the commissioner of Planning and Natural Resources ont fish and game regulations. Board member for the East End Marine Park.
